The Advanced Water Management Centre (AWMC) is an international centre of excellence in innovative water technology and management. Over the last ten years of research in this field, the AWMC has developed a leading expertise in education, research and consulting. Its particular strength is the close integration of biological science, process engineering and informatics. This unique combination forms the basis for groundbreaking research but also offers some exciting opportunities for development and application of user-specific solutions to challenging environmental problems.

The AWMC has a vast expertise base in its research team with over 30 academic and research staff and more than 25 research students. The AWMC has an outstanding track record of successful research, development and application projects currently worth AU$7 million per annum, many in close collaboration with industry or international collaborators.

The Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) is the peak body of the Australian urban water industry. Its 33 members and 29 associate members provide water and waste water services to approximately 16 million Australians and to many of our largest industrial and commercial enterprises. CSIRO, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, is Australia's national science agency and one of the largest and most diverse research agencies in the world. The Water for a Healthy Country Flagship is its national research program addressing one of Australia’s most pressing natural resource issues – sustainable management of our water resources.

The Flagship's Urban Water Theme is conducting research to ensure Australian cities can meet the demands that climate change and population growth will place on our limited water resources. It is the country’s largest urban water research program.
